About the role
MongoDB’s Global Security Organization (GSO) is seeking a Director of Global Security Operations to establish and lead its first dedicated team in India. This is a foundational leadership position where your primary mandate is to recruit and build a 20-person team from scratch. The team will operate under a hybrid working model and must be based in Gurugram.
The new team will extend US-based capabilities in three key areas: AI-driven vulnerability management, launch readiness security analysis, and core enterprise security, including insider threat protection and AI governance.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and onboard a 20-person team, including three managers, across vulnerability management, launch readiness, and core enterprise security.
- Establish operating rhythms, tooling, and documentation to ensure the India team functions as a first-class part of GSO from day one.
- Manage matrix reporting structures to resolve competing priorities between local and functional leadership.
- Represent the India team’s capacity and growth needs to GSO leadership.
- Build a durable leadership bench and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture through coaching and clear communication.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in security operations, security engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 5 years in a people-leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Direct hands-on experience in vulnerability management, security automation, or enterprise security operations.
- Proven track record of hiring and ramping technical teams quickly while maintaining quality and culture.
- Experience operating successfully in a matrix structure with international reporting lines.
- Strong communication skills across US, EMEA, and India time zones.
