About the role
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc is a leading foods company in Africa, known for brands like Golden Penny and Goldenvita. We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Ibadan, Oyo. This position focuses on ensuring that all routine and planned preventive maintenance on machines is carried out strictly and on time.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to determine assembly operations.
- Attend to unusual conditions of moving parts, such as conveyors, to solve problems before they worsen.
- Perform daily and periodic checks on pumps, bolts, and nuts to prevent misalignment.
- Execute routine lubrication plans for pumps, gearboxes, and couplings.
- Adhere strictly to safe work procedures during all repairs and maintenance activities.
- Fit and assemble prefabricated metal parts to build heavy industrial machinery, including conveyors, elevators, and pumps.
- Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors, or hydraulic assemblies.
- Report daily activities to the line manager and shift coordinator to ensure smooth machine operation.
- Maintain responsibility for working tools and ensure accountability when requested.
- Inspect parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of two years of cognate experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or FMCG environment.
- Organized and able to manage materials efficiently.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
