About the role
Action Against Hunger is looking for a WASH Deputy Program Manager to join their team in Katsina. As a global leader in ending life-threatening hunger, the organization has been active in nearly 50 countries for over 40 years. In this position, you will help define and implement Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) strategies while supporting project execution and stakeholder coordination.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the definition and implementation of WASH policies and strategies at the national and mission levels.
- Support the development of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) for WASH, NFI, and Shelter sectors.
- Conduct needs and feasibility assessments, and contribute to the writing of project proposals.
- Monitor, supervise, and ensure quality assurance for all WASH activities, including infrastructure and hygiene promotion.
- Track project implementation using internal tools such as Activity Progress Reports (APR) and Budget follow-ups.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, NGOs, and partners to promote effective collaboration and capacity building.
- Support internal and external evaluations, including the execution of surveys and implementation of recommendations.
- Maintain project documentation, photos, and populate the WASH database to ensure proper knowledge management.
Requirements
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering/Technology, Geology, or Construction Technology.
- Minimum of 3 years of work and management experience in WASH projects.
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, Sphere Standards, and international WASH guidelines.
- Proficiency in WASH design software such as GIS, AutoCAD, and EPANET.
- Experience working in an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) or humanitarian context.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including team management, communication, and autonomy.
