About the role
Malteser International is seeking a Nutrition Officer to join their team in Katsina, Nigeria. This full-time position is part of their humanitarian relief efforts, focusing on improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, as well as supporting food security and livelihoods in the region.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of quality nutrition services, including IMAM, SAM/MAM management, and community screening.
- Train, coach, and mentor health workers and community personnel.
- Collect, validate, and analyze nutrition data, and maintain accurate records in DHIS2.
- Engage with communities to promote nutrition awareness and breastfeeding.
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, local authorities, and implementing partners.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PSEAH standards, and donor requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Nutrition, Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Sphere and Nutrition Cluster standards.
- Strong understanding of gender, protection, and inclusion in humanitarian work.
- Experience working with NGOs in emergency response settings is desirable.
- Strong written and spoken English; Hausa and/or local language skills are an asset.
- Ability to travel frequently to remote areas and work under emergency conditions.
