Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a Senior Transport Manager to lead fleet operations at its Mtwara Plant in Tanzania. This full-time position focuses on executing the fleet operational strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maximizing the availability and efficiency of the truck fleet. You will supervise fleet managers and their teams while driving continuous improvement in logistics performance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the execution of the fleet operational strategy in line with company guidelines.
  • Supervise fleet managers to ensure adherence to company regulations and freight transportation laws.
  • Manage fleet availability and utilization to reduce downtime and troubleshoot route deviations.
  • Plan, develop, and execute truck replacement schedules.
  • Identify and coordinate training needs for fleet operations employees.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for fleet personnel.
  • Proactively identify operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee the return to operational condition of impounded, accidental, or damaged trucks.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Supervise the scheduling of truck movements and maintain safety standards.
  • Monitor truck asset maintenance and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in the design of fleet management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with maintenance units to ensure trucks remain in good working condition.
  • Inform management of actions necessary to reduce fleet operating costs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics (preferable) or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • 25 years of related experience (preferable), with at least 15 years specific experience in transport.
  • Strong organizing, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Dangote Cement P.L.C. products and service offerings.
  • Strong understanding of current transport systems, concepts, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Very good negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of macro and micro environmental trends impacting the organization.
  • Understanding of trends, challenges, and regulations in the cement manufacturing industry.
