About the role
NewGlobe is looking for an IT Operations Manager to lead IT functions in North-West Nigeria. You will ensure high-quality customer service by maintaining and enhancing IT systems. You will also be responsible for the security and integrity of IT operations, as well as managing a team of IT officers and associates. This role requires flexibility to work outside normal hours and the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Provide first-line IT support for local staff, covering hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Manage service requests and tickets to minimize backlog and ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to suppliers or partners when necessary.
- Monitor operational performance and ensure adherence to IT governance and standard operating procedures.
- Deploy computers, school technology, and network equipment such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Install and configure operating systems and software according to established standards.
- Manage the local area network, internet connections, and network security.
- Oversee IT infrastructure improvement projects, including scheduling and budgeting.
- Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff to promote a culture of service excellence.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- 5-10 years of relevant IT or industry work experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of PC hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows desktop and server environments, including Active Directory administration.
- Knowledge of network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and LAN/WiFi configurations.
- Familiarity with Android technologies and cloud services, particularly AWS.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and propose solutions to technical issues.
