West Africa Vocational Academies (WAVE) is a non-profit organisation focused on reducing youth unemployment in Nigeria. It works to provide employability skills training and job placement services for underserved young people. The organisation states it has reached over 80,000 young people and supports a network of more than 900 employer partners across the country.
WAVE’s model involves screening motivated youth, providing demand-driven training in skills such as communication and problem-solving, matching graduates with employers, and offering post-training career support through workshops and mentorship. The organisation reports that over 70% of its alumni are employed and that graduates can experience up to three times their pre-training income one year after completing programmes.
While primarily a training and placement provider, WAVE also hires for internal roles. Recent recruitment activity includes a position for a Commercial Lawyer to join a Corporate & Commercial Practice team. This role is based in Ikoyi, Lagos, with a hybrid work schedule of four days on-site and one day remote. The organisation’s core values include putting people first, integrity, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
