About the scholarship
The VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) supports talented non-EU/EEA students pursuing a Master’s degree at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Each year, the university awards 20 to 25 scholarships to help cover the costs of study. The programme is available for Master’s degrees starting in September 2027.
What it covers
- Tuition fees: The scholarship covers the full tuition fees for a one-year or two-year Master’s programme.
- Living costs: Applicants are automatically considered for the NL Scholarship, which provides €5,000 or €10,000 towards living costs for the first year.
- Renewal: For two-year programmes, the tuition waiver is extended to the second year only if 100% of the first-year credits are achieved.
Who can apply
- Hold a non-EU/EEA passport and are not eligible for the lower Dutch tuition fee.
- Do not hold Dutch nationality.
- Demonstrate academic excellence with a GPA equivalent to a Dutch 8.
- Are conditionally or unconditionally admitted to a full-time English-taught Master’s programme at VU Amsterdam starting in September 2027.
- The previous degree was not obtained in the Netherlands.
- Do not require a preparatory programme before starting the Master’s.
How to apply
Applications for the VUFP open on 1 November 2026. To be eligible, you must first apply for and be admitted to the Master’s programme. You must register for the programme in Studielink by 1 December 2026. Afterward, you must submit your VUFP application and supporting documents via your VU dashboard before 1 February 2027.
