About the role

Tenece Holdings Limited is a group company operating across six distinct sectors, with a core focus on technology through Tenece Professional Services. Registered under the laws of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the company is seeking a Team Lead, Legal to manage the day-to-day operations of the group legal team. This full-time position based in Lagos involves deputizing for the Head of Legal and ensuring that every business unit receives clear, practical, and timely legal support. The role requires leading a team of lawyers while personally managing complex contracts, transactions, and advisory work.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including technology vendor arrangements, NDAs, and government contracts.
  • Support corporate actions such as share schemes, restructurings, and new entity formations while advising on governance under CAMA 2020.
  • Manage group entities across various markets, including statutory filings, registers, and annual returns.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance, including data protection (NDPA 2023), competition, and anti-bribery laws.
  • Review HR policies and advise on employment matters to ensure processes withstand scrutiny at the National Industrial Court.
  • Instruct and supervise external counsel, manage dispute strategy, and maintain the litigation register.
  • Allocate team work, review output, maintain legal templates, and coach team members on performance objectives.

Requirements

  • LL.M in commercial, corporate, or a related area.
  • Membership in ICSAN or CIArb, along with data protection certification.
  • Seven years of post-call in-house experience in a multi-sector, multi-country group.
  • Experience building legal processes, policies, or playbooks.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian contract law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Skills in legal tech, risk assessment, and managing external counsel within budget.
