About the role
GEC Petroleum Development Company (GPDC) is a Nigeria-based energy resources company with 35 years of experience, evolving from an oil service provider to an active explorer and developer. We are looking for a Senior Geoscience Interpreter to provide high-level technical leadership for our exploration, development, and production activities. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Lagos.
Responsibilities
- Provide functional oversight of technical inputs for geotechnical documents and well operations.
- Define and deliver discipline-specific work scopes within subsurface programs, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
- Lead geoscientists in identifying and maturing exploration opportunities through seismic interpretation and mapping.
- Generate time, velocity, and depth maps, as well as attribute analysis maps from seismic data.
- Offer expert advice on geophysical and geological techniques to asset staff and management.
- Conduct first-line QA/QC for all technical deliverables.
- Incorporate geophysical and geological uncertainties into exploration, appraisal, and field development programs.
Requirements
- BSc in an Earth Science discipline; an MSc is highly preferred.
- 8-10 years of experience in a reputable exploration/production company, preferably an IOC.
- Proven experience using the latest exploration software for prospect maturation.
- Broad knowledge of subsurface disciplines and non-seismic techniques.
- Experience with exploration drilling and/or seismic operations and processing.
- Proven subsurface evaluation and leadership skills.
- Experience working globally in various geological settings (clastics, carbonates, passive margins).
- Track record of contributing to subsurface projects in multiple basins and plays.
- Experience generating well proposals and driving exploration well delivery.
- JV Partnership and PSC operations experience is highly desirable.
