Paramilitary Recruitment: Shortlisted Candidates to Undergo Mandatory Drug Tests

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has announced that its recruitment portal will open on October 28 for candidates shortlisted for the first batch of 30,000 paramilitary personnel.

Shortlisted candidates are required to log in to check their status and obtain the code needed to undertake mandatory drug tests. The portal will remain open until November 13.

Candidates must undergo the drug test at designated National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) offices in their respective states. This is in line with the Federal Government’s directive that prospective employees must provide evidence they are free from illegal drug use before receiving appointment letters.

After passing the test, candidates will proceed to Abuja to collect their appointment letters. The Board Secretary, Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jibrin (retd.), confirmed that the government will bear the cost of the drug tests, and no candidate should be charged.

This exercise is part of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to recruit 120,000 personnel into the country’s paramilitary services. The current batch covers the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
