About the role
Lindii Peace Foundation (LPF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace and reducing poverty in Nigeria. We are looking for a compassionate Nutrition Assistant to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno. This is a contract position where you will work closely with nutrition officers, health teams, and community personnel to support vulnerable and crisis-affected populations.
The role focuses on practical field support, including nutrition screening, community mobilization, health education, and data collection. You will help ensure that nutrition activities are implemented safely and in line with humanitarian principles and LPF policies.
Responsibilities
- Nutrition Programme Support: Assist with day-to-day nutrition activities, field visits, and outreach sessions.
- Screening and Referral: Support routine nutrition screening for children, pregnant, and lactating women. Identify individuals needing further assessment and manage referrals to appropriate services.
- Community Engagement: Mobilize community members for nutrition services, work with local leaders, and promote inclusive participation.
- Health Education: Deliver basic nutrition and health education sessions, focusing on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and malnutrition prevention.
- Data and Documentation: Accurately collect and record programme data, maintain beneficiary registers, and support monitoring and reporting.
- Safeguarding: Comply with LPF’s safeguarding, child protection, and PSEA policies, ensuring all beneficiaries are treated with dignity and respect.
Requirements
- Education: Diploma, ND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Community Health, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant experience in nutrition, health, community outreach, or humanitarian programmes.
- Skills: Good communication skills, ability to work with vulnerable populations, and basic knowledge of malnutrition prevention and IYCF.
- Desirable: Familiarity with humanitarian principles, PSEA, and experience in conflict-affected or emergency settings.
