The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has established a framework for providing zero-interest loans to eligible Nigerian students. This initiative, established by the Students Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, 2024, aims to break financial barriers in higher education by covering institutional charges and upkeep.
Eligibility
The loan is open to all public tertiary institutions. However, the first phase is specifically for students studying or desiring to study in federal higher institutions in Nigeria. Other phases will be announced in due course.
How to Apply
1. Register on the Student Loan Application Platform by clicking the “APPLY NOW” button.
2. Click on the “Request for Student Loan” button.
3. Complete the loan application steps and submit your application.
Disbursement Process
Your application will be reviewed. After successful verification, payments for institutional charges will be made directly to your institution. The upkeep loan will be paid to the bank account you have provided in your profile.
Key Facts
• The loans are administered by NELFUND, headed by a Managing Director appointed by the President of Nigeria.
