About the role
Terawork is a leading online talent marketplace in Africa that connects businesses with professional talent. We are looking for an experienced Internal Control Team Lead to oversee control activities across our stores, warehouses, and support functions. This full-time position is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies, SOPs, and procedures.
- Lead and supervise Internal Control Officers across multiple locations.
- Oversee cash handling, inventory, refunds, discounts, stock movements, and loss prevention.
- Conduct control reviews, spot checks, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with Audit, Finance, Warehouse, and Store Operations teams.
- Use data analytics to identify exceptions and support continuous improvement.
- Identify control weaknesses, revenue leakages, stock variances, and fraud risks.
- Prepare internal control reports and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements
- 7–8 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in Internal Control, Internal Audit, Risk Management, or Compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, with ERP/POS experience preferred.
- Knowledge of COSO, ISO 31000, risk management, and fraud detection.
- Strong knowledge of inventory, warehouse, and retail operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- CIA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, CISA, CFE, CRMA, or related certification is an advantage.
- Experience in Retail, FMCG, Hospitality, or Banking is an advantage.
