About the role
Jobtion Consulting is recruiting a Year 1 Class Teacher for a reputable private school in Lagos. This is a full-time position where you will report to the Supervisor of the Lower Primary Section or the Deputy Head Teacher. The role focuses on delivering engaging lessons and supporting the development of young learners.
Responsibilities
- Deliver well-planned, differentiated lessons for Year 1 using play-based and activity-based methods.
- Teach core subjects including English (Phonics, Reading, Writing), Mathematics, and Science.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive reinforcement.
- Conduct continuous assessment and prepare termly reports for parents.
- Promote the welfare, safety, and well-being of all pupils in your care.
- Collaborate with other teachers and attend staff meetings and training.
Requirements
- Must be a resident of Lagos.
- 4-5 years of proven teaching experience as a Lower Primary or Year 1 teacher in a reputable private or international school.
- B.Ed, B.A, or B.Sc with a PGDE in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or a related field. An M.Ed is an added advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of Jolly Phonics and early numeracy strategies.
- Strong knowledge of the British Curriculum and the transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1.
- Proficient in using ICT for teaching and learning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
