About the role
ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Research Engineer/Scientist to help build the AI control tower for business reinvention. You will design data infrastructure and create evaluation frameworks for agentic AI workflows. This role focuses on freeing people from busywork by leveraging AI to improve business processes.
Responsibilities
- Design Data Infrastructure: Architect and deploy data pipelines to capture, manage, and store structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Automate Data Transformation: Develop tools using ML and data-engineering techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data while maintaining quality standards.
- Define Evaluation Metrics: Partner with product and AI teams to establish ground truth labeling standards and design evaluation datasets for agentic workflows.
- Build Evaluation Pipelines: Implement automated infrastructure to measure AI agent performance using Now LLM Service models and execution logs.
- Establish Standards: Create design standards, quality gates, and validation frameworks for data systems and AI workflows.
- Lead Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers on data engineering and evaluation design.
Requirements
- 9+ years designing and building production data pipelines, data warehousing, and ETL systems.
- Strong expertise in SQL, Python, or JavaScript, and distributed data processing.
- 3+ years working on ML systems, model validation infrastructure, or AI-powered applications.
- Experience deploying and monitoring large-scale data systems in production.
- Ability to design scalable, secure data architectures with experience in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and APIs.
- Familiarity with AI/ML evaluation frameworks, LLM-based systems, or agentic workflows.
- Experience on the ServiceNow platform is a plus.
Pay and benefits
The base pay for this position is $202,500 – $354,400. This is in addition to equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation, and benefits. Compensation is based on the geographic location and is subject to change based on work location.
