About the role
Reddit is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to build the machine learning capabilities that help advertisers understand potential outcomes on the platform. You will lead models that estimate how campaign results change with different budgets, bids, audiences, and creative performance. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on connecting supply and demand forecasting with marketplace simulation.
Responsibilities
- Lead forecasting and scenario modeling to translate advertiser questions into models of delivery and performance tradeoffs.
- Connect inventory, demand, and response data to estimate achievable delivery and performance.
- Develop models that account for changes in budget, bid, audience, and optimization objectives.
- Quantify unrealized opportunity by incorporating creative-performance estimates to assess potential gains.
- Apply probabilistic forecasting and multitask learning to handle sparse segments and delayed feedback.
- Establish trustworthy comparisons by evaluating numerical accuracy, calibration, and uncertainty.
- Close the learning loop by comparing recorded predictions with mature outcomes and diagnosing errors.
- Own production delivery and technical leadership, partnering with engineers on reliable training and serving.
Requirements
- A track record of developing and shipping predictive ML systems in advertising, marketplaces, or similar complex domains.
- Strong foundations in statistical learning, probability, and optimization.
- Depth in probabilistic or hierarchical forecasting, calibrated conversion prediction, or response modeling.
- Strong judgment in evaluation, including temporal validation and calibration.
- Experience addressing sparse observations, cold start, seasonality, or distribution shift.
- Strong programming and software engineering skills for building production ML systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous technical initiatives and mentor other engineers.
Pay and benefits
- Base salary range: $230,000 – $322,000 USD.
