About the role
Pinterest is seeking a Senior UX Engineer to drive initiatives that empower designers to build modern, high-quality user experiences. You will bridge the gap between design and engineering, working closely with a small, innovative design team. This role focuses on maintaining design fidelity while ensuring technical feasibility for both Pinners and Advertisers. The position is open to US-based applicants only and is not eligible for relocation assistance.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic technical direction of cross-platform design system libraries.
- Design solutions that address problems at current and future scales.
- Maintain the connection between design and engineering by applying technical architecture and data through code.
- Evolve the design system to meet user needs and improve design standards and reusable components.
- Mentor team members and participate in design and code reviews.
- Use AI to create, develop, and distribute high-fidelity prototypes for product alignment and user testing.
- Build tooling that helps designers and engineers leverage AI capabilities in their daily workflows.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a design technologist, engineer, or UX engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Deep experience in mobile native UI development (Android SDK, Kotlin, UIKit, Swift).
- Experience developing or leading design system initiatives.
- Proven track record of delivering reliable technical solutions that scale.
- Ability to break down complex challenges into smaller decisions framed as trade-offs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in daily workflows.
- Strong track record of human-in-the-loop best practices, including critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work.
Pay and benefits
The base salary range for this position is $155,584 to $320,320. Final salary is based on factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, and particular skills. The position is also eligible for equity. This role requires in-person collaboration 1-2 times per year and can be situated anywhere in the country.
