About the role
Join the Advanced Trading team within the Consumer & Business group at Coinbase. As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will help scale trading products for customers worldwide. You will own the design and delivery of social, asset discovery, and real-time notification experiences. This role is remote-first, but you will participate in quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and reliability of high-performance backend services using Golang and gRPC.
- Lead rapid experimentation and optimization of conversion funnels for key trading journeys using data.
- Drive accelerated time to market for new features by making system design trade-offs across performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Champion software engineering best practices in design, coding, testing, documentation, monitoring, and alerting.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and designers across multiple time zones.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production systems.
- Significant experience in Golang and gRPC.
- Proven track record designing scalable service architectures and making system design trade-offs in high-throughput environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, or similar cloud infrastructure tools.
- Working knowledge of event-driven architectures (Kafka, MQ, or similar).
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases, third-party API integrations, GraphQL, and ETL pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous, multi-quarter projects from concept to production with minimal guidance.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.
Pay and benefits
Annual base salary range: $186,065—$218,900 USD. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
