About the role
Join Coinbase’s Customer Engagement and Experience organization to design and build AI-powered systems that connect the Help Center, chatbots, and agent workflows. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the CX Intelligence Engineering team, you will drive key automation initiatives, including multi-agent framework development and LLM-powered secure actions. This role is remote-first, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”
Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy multi-agent frameworks for agent assist, internal SOP execution, and secure LLM-powered actions.
- Own end-to-end project execution for complex ML initiatives, managing priorities and cross-functional dependencies.
- Build and optimize AI-driven concierge chat and agent copilot experiences to improve automated resolution rates.
- Develop systems to detect and manage bad actors and adversarial inputs to ensure platform safety.
- Establish best practices for system design, coding standards, and evaluation frameworks for ML/AI systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in machine learning and software engineering with production-grade ML services at scale.
- Hands-on expertise with large language models, deep learning architectures, and the generative AI ecosystem (e.g., LangGraph, LangSmith, Google ADK, Vertex AI, or AWS Bedrock).
- Proficiency in Python with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and highly tested production code.
- Specialized depth in at least one domain: NLP, information retrieval, conversational AI, or advanced statistical modeling.
- Proven ability to write technical design documents and communicate complex ML concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Pay and benefits
The annual base salary range is $191,250 to $225,000 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, as well as benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans.
