About the role
Reddit is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Ad Formats Foundation team. This remote position focuses on strengthening advertising experiences across desktop and mobile web. You will work on modernizing core formats infrastructure, improving system reliability, and driving cross-platform consistency. The goal is to enhance developer efficiency and ensure ad formats perform reliably across all Reddit surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Develop resilient frontend solutions to reduce ad disruptions using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and browser networking knowledge.
- Collaborate with Ads and Web Platform teams to integrate solutions into shared rendering infrastructure and build systems.
- Design controlled experiments and phased rollouts to measure effectiveness while protecting site performance and accessibility.
- Build instrumentation and monitoring tools to track mitigation effectiveness and detect regressions.
- Implement ad rendering, event collection, click handling, and browser extensions across multiple ad formats.
- Contribute to foundational improvements in web advertising reliability, performance, and measurement.
- Improve engineering quality through technical design, testing, code reviews, documentation, and mentorship.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production web applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or React.
- Comfort using agentic coding tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude in day-to-day development.
- Track record of independently delivering complex frontend projects from design through launch.
- Strong judgment in frontend architecture, state management, component design, testing, and API integration.
- Experience building polished user interfaces with attention to usability, performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
- Ability to work effectively through ambiguous product and technical problems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, design, and data disciplines.
- Experience using instrumentation, experimentation, or product metrics to improve user experiences.
- Habit of improving engineering quality through code reviews, documentation, and technical mentorship.
Pay and benefits
- Base salary range: $190,800 – $267,100 USD.
