About the role
Discord is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to join the Consumer Revenue team. You will lead the development and scaling of the Nitro product. This role involves managing a team of engineers who build revenue-driving products and services across various platforms.
Responsibilities
- Build and coach high-performing engineering teams by fostering ownership and impact.
- Collaborate with Finance, Customer Experience, Product, Design, and Marketing to define the team’s vision and roadmap.
- Apply technical expertise to maintain high standards and ensure exceptional delivery.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement processes that help the team meet its goals.
- Mentor engineers by supporting their career growth and technical skill development.
- Make clear, well-reasoned decisions regarding resource allocation.
- Partner with Revenue leadership on strategic planning and organizational improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functions.
- Experience developing engineers at multiple levels and a motivation to help them succeed.
- A first-principles approach to problem-solving.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a collaborative mindset for solving complex problems.
- Strong product sense and a focus on understanding customer needs.
- Experience using experiments and data to inform decisions.
- Continued technical proficiency and the ability to assess new industry technologies.
Pay and benefits
The base salary range for this full-time position is $304,000 – $380,000. This range does not include equity or benefits. Individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
