About the role
Discord is seeking a Public Affairs Advisor to help lead its external engagement strategy. You will build lasting partnerships with civil society, industry groups, and stakeholders worldwide. This role reports to the Head of Public Policy, Americas, and requires being in the office 1-2 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Shape and execute a global external affairs strategy to strengthen Discord’s reputation with key stakeholders.
- Build and manage a portfolio of strategic partnerships that advance policy and business objectives.
- Measure the impact of engagements and report outcomes to leadership.
- Own the headquarters visit program for policymakers and government officials.
- Lead special projects such as external events, policy research, and cross-regional campaigns.
- Develop external-facing materials including briefing books, talking points, and presentations.
- Manage the Public Policy team’s budgets and operational projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in public policy, public affairs, or civil society partnerships.
- Experience owning and executing multi-year public affairs or partnership programs.
- Track record of managing partnerships with civil society, academics, and industry leaders across multiple regions.
- Experience planning high-level visits or events for senior government officials.
- Familiarity with technology policy issues.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple workstreams.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties).
Pay and benefits
- Base salary: $192,000 – $216,000 USD.
- Eligible for equity and benefits.
