About the role
Join Oscar’s Eligibility & Billing team as an Operations Engineer II. You will design, build, and test data and technical solutions to improve efficiency and scale. This position focuses on automating core insurance functions and creating robust infrastructure. You will serve as a technical thought partner, delivering projects within your team’s domain and representing the team in cross-functional discussions. The role reports to the Manager, Operations Engineering.
This position is based in the New York City office with a hybrid schedule. You must work in the office three days per week, with Thursdays as a required in-office day for team meetings. Your other two office days are flexible.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of technical solutions for new product expansions, regulatory needs, and automated workflows.
- Write correct, stable, and modular code with minimal oversight.
- Contribute to code and design reviews for team projects.
- Collaborate on technical design and scoping for scalable processes.
- Represent the team in cross-functional work and technical discussions.
- Identify and mitigate risks while resolving production issues.
- Partner with Business, Engineering, and Data organizations to operationalize health insurance operations.
- Support urgent operational needs through on-call rotation.
Requirements
- A technical bachelor’s degree or four or more years of commensurate experience.
- Four or more years of experience in a technical role such as QA lead, data lead, systems lead, or engineer.
- Three or more years of experience with SQL.
- Three or more years of experience with Python.
Pay and benefits
- Base pay: $135,792 – $178,227 per year.
