About the role

SpaceX is hiring an IT NOC Technician to support the high-availability network infrastructure that powers our mission-critical operations. These networks enable launch operations, engineering systems, and corporate services. You will help improve monitoring, documentation, and operational processes to support SpaceX’s rapid growth and high-reliability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor enterprise and operational networks, data centers, cloud environments, and connectivity for launch sites, Starlink infrastructure, and corporate facilities.
  • Manage ISP relationships for circuit outages and turnups/disconnects.
  • Detect, triage, and respond to network incidents, performance issues, and outages to minimize impact on launch operations and real-time mission support.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of network, firewall, routing, switching, and connectivity problems across IT and operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Create, manage, and escalate tickets following ITIL-aligned processes and strict SLAs for mission-critical systems.
  • Execute runbooks and standard operating procedures, escalating complex problems to Tier 2/3 engineers or specialized teams.
  • Generate operational reports and post-incident summaries, including metrics relevant to launch campaigns and satellite operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network topologies, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in change management, planned maintenance, and incident management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve monitoring coverage and reduce mean time to resolution.
  • Support high-reliability environments where network downtime can affect vehicle testing, launch countdowns, or satellite communications.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or Engineering; OR 4+ years of hands-on NOC, network operations, or IT infrastructure experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a NOC, network operations, or IT infrastructure role.
  • Preferred Skills: Industry certifications (CompTIA Network+ or CCNA), cloud networking (AWS or Azure), basic scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash), and experience in high-availability or mission-critical environments.
  • Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP), network monitoring tools, and ITIL processes.
  • Availability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, shift-based environment with rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Willingness to work overtime hours and extra days as needed.

Pay and benefits

  • Pay Range: Level 1: $34.00 – $40.00; Level 2: $38.00 – $44.00; Level 3: $42.00 – $50.00. Actual level and base salary are determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Benefits: Eligibility for long-term incentives (company stock or long-term cash awards), potential discretionary bonuses, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and paid parental leave.
  • Time Off: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 10 or more paid holidays per year, and paid sick leave accrual per company policy.
