About the role
Join the team at Fairmont Orchid, a luxury resort on the Kohala Coast. You will work in Binchotan Bar and Grille, a restaurant featuring traditional northern Japanese robatayaki cooking. This full-time position focuses on delivering warm, personalized service in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
Responsibilities
- Guest Experience: Provide detailed service, ensure a positive first impression, and offer personalized welcomes and farewells using guest names.
- Operations: Manage the flow of service by seating guests in rotation and maintaining the reservation management system (Open Table).
- Communication: Handle reservation inquiries, take phone calls, note special requests, and flag VIP guests.
- Preparation: Create communication for servers, designate section assignments, and ensure an adequate supply of clean menus.
- Standards: Maintain cleanliness of the host stand and work areas, set tables according to standards, and assist other Food & Beverage outlets during peak times.
- Safety: Adhere to food safety (HACCP) and fire/life safety procedures.
Requirements
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to remain calm and courteous, and good teamwork skills.
- Language: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
- Compliance: Must provide State and Federal requirements to work in Food and Beverage, including Tuberculosis Clearance.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
