About the scholarship
The US-MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). It provides undergraduate scholarships and leadership training to highly motivated candidates from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The program partners with the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese American University to build a network of future leaders. Graduates join a community of over 1,900 alumni serving in leadership roles across the region.
What it covers
The program offers fully funded undergraduate scholarships. It includes access to high-quality education and training at partner institutions. Participants receive the knowledge and skills necessary for leadership roles at local, national, and regional levels.
Who can apply
- Citizens of Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank, Palestinian students residing in a third country with legal residency status, or Yemen.
- Current high school seniors or applicants who graduated from high school in 2026.
- Applicants from Iraq, Libya, Syria, West Bank, Palestinian students residing in a third country, and Yemen who graduated high school in 2025 are also eligible.
- U.S. citizens and U.S. legal permanent residents are not eligible.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong academic credentials, maturity, flexibility, and leadership potential.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, with a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 4.0 (new 1–6 scale) or 80 (old 0–120 scale) received within two years of the program start date.
- Applicants must be able to travel and start their undergraduate program in August 2027.
How to apply
Applications for the 2027/2028 academic year are open until November 18, 2026. Applicants only need to complete the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program application; separate applications to partner universities are not required. The selection process includes an initial review in December 2026, interviews in January 2027, and standardized testing (TOEFL and SAT) between February and April 2027. Conditional offers are sent on a rolling basis from May to July 2027. Accepted applicants attend a Pre-Departure Orientation and Leadership Workshop in August 2027 before traveling to their universities.
