About the scholarship

The University of Lausanne (UNIL) in Switzerland offers Master’s Grants to international students on a competitive basis. These grants support students pursuing a Master’s degree at the university. Approximately 10 scholarships are available each year.

What it covers

  • Monthly stipend: CHF 1,600 per month from 15 September to 15 July (10 months per year).
  • Duration: The full duration of the chosen Master’s programme (1.5 or 2 years), unless definitive failure occurs after the first year.
  • Fee exemption: Exemption from fixed registration fees, excluding a CHF 80.00 fee per semester.

Who can apply

  • International students with a foreign university degree considered equivalent to a bachelor’s degree at UNIL.
  • Candidates must have distinguished themselves with brilliant academic results.
  • Applicants must have a language level of at least C1 in French or English, depending on the language of instruction.
  • Applicants must not have been previously registered at UNIL.
  • Applicants must pay the CHF 200.00 administration fee.

Excluded programmes: Master’s in Medicine, Sciences and Practices of Education, most Law specialisms (except International and Comparative Law, Legal Theory, and International Tax Law and Policy), Physical Education and Sport Didactics, Health Sciences, Sustainable Management & Technology, Human Taphonomy, and all MAS (3rd cycle) programmes.

Applications for the 2027/2028 academic year open in September 2026. The application form for the scholarship also serves as the admission application for the Master’s programme. You must apply online and upload your complete application file in PDF format. The deadline for applications is 1 November 2026.
