About the scholarship
The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) offers the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program for the 2027 academic year. This fully funded opportunity supports the Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MSc in HPE). The program prepares health educators and leaders to design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality health professions programs across Africa. It is designed for experienced educators and academic leaders who aim to shape national policy, lead institutions, or contribute to the global education evidence base.
What it covers
The scholarship is fully funded. It covers tuition, accommodation, travel, and living expenses. The program combines flexible online learning with immersive in-person intensive sessions at UGHE’s campus in Rwanda.
Who can apply
- Applicants must be 35 or under at the time of application, with exceptions for those with disabilities.
- Applicants must be residents and citizens of an African country or hold refugee status there.
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
- Professional experience in teaching, supervision, or educational leadership in health-related higher education is preferred.
- Currently employed applicants must provide a signed and stamped recommendation letter from their institution confirming support and dedicated time for the program.
- Applicants who already hold a master’s degree are not eligible.
