About the role
DP World is seeking a Technical Superintendent to join their team in Lagos. In this position, you will be responsible for the overall technical management and operations of assigned vessels. You will ensure that ships are operated safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with classification and statutory regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and ensure it is operated according to company standards.
- Manage vessel maintenance, repairs, budgeting, and survey scheduling.
- Prepare dry-dock specifications and supervise dry-dockings and repairs to completion.
- Liaise with the Purchasing department to track and expedite purchase requisitions.
- Contribute to the appraisal and selection of repair yards and technical service providers.
- Ensure adherence to IMCA guidelines and best industry practices.
- Maintain and update the vessel Technical Library, including plans and drawings.
- Coordinate with repair yards, sub-contractors, Class, and Administration to ensure works meet agreed specifications and schedules.
- Monitor on-board Planned Preventive Maintenance for cost-effective management.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to Vessel Masters and Chief Engineers.
- Submit written reports detailing in-service repairs, dry-docking, and surveys.
Requirements
- Unlimited STCW ’95 Chief Engineer’s license (Motor) for sea-going vessels, OR
- An Engineering Degree or Diploma in Mechanics / Electromechanical Engineering.
