First Bank of Nigeria Limited is seeking a Team Lead, Data Engineering to join its team in Nigeria. This is a full-time position focused on leading technical innovation, automation, and the development of robust data platforms within a major financial institution.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate a culture of continuous technical innovation, automation, and learning to stay ahead of data engineering trends.
- Architect scalable, high-performance, and resilient data solutions for structured and unstructured data across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
- Direct, mentor, and inspire a team of data engineers to deliver enterprise-grade data platforms and pipelines.
- Manage project delivery, team resourcing, budgeting, and risk prioritization to meet timelines and service-level agreements.
- Collaborate with data architects, analytics leaders, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical deliverables.
- Oversee production support, real-time monitoring, incident response, disaster recovery, and root cause analysis.
- Lead the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, automated testing, and monitoring.
- Ensure all solutions adhere to global data privacy regulations, internal security frameworks, and bank policies.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics) strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or software engineering.
- At least 2 years in a technical or people leadership role within complex, regulated environments.
- Deep hands-on skills in Python, Java, Scala, or a similar advanced programming language.
- Comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and container orchestration technologies.
- Proven expertise in designing and deploying large-scale data platforms using modern data stack technologies.
- Strong understanding of data security, encryption, access controls, and regulatory frameworks relevant to global banking.
