About the role
Alfred and Victoria Associates is seeking a System and Customer Reliability Engineer to join their team in Lagos. This is a full-time, hybrid position that blends deep technical troubleshooting with customer support and reliability engineering. You will bridge the gap between customer-facing support and engineering, ensuring services meet SLAs while building tools and runbooks to improve team efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage escalated incidents from L1, performing deep-dive troubleshooting across systems, applications, and networks.
- Lead response to P1 and P2 incidents, including log analysis, hotfix deployment, and stakeholder communication.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major incidents and collaborate with engineering on permanent fixes.
- Execute change management processes, including risk assessment, rollout planning, and post-change validation.
- Lead end-to-end system and solution delivery, covering installation, configuration, integration, and testing.
- Develop automation scripts, internal tools, and dashboards to reduce operational toil for support teams.
- Maintain knowledge bases, runbooks, and service health dashboards (SLIs, SLOs).
Requirements
- First Degree in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering.
- Solid experience in technical support, SRE, DevOps, or system administration.
- Deep troubleshooting skills across systems, applications, and networking (TCP/IP concepts).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, and on-prem/cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency with MariaDB and PostgreSQL, including administration and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience with incident and change management frameworks (ITIL preferred).
- Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios) and ticketing systems (Jira, ELK).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, and GitOps practices.
