About the role
SPIE Oil & Gas Services is seeking a Subsea Wells Superintendent to join its team in Nigeria. As part of the SPIE Group, the company provides comprehensive services to major oil and gas operators across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. This position offers the opportunity to lead offshore subsea operations while supporting the company’s growth and commitment to employee development.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership and ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and HSE requirements.
- Supervise up to 15 service contractor personnel, including up to four offshore subsea supervisors.
- Support the delivery of 8–10 deepwater wells annually through effective planning and coordination.
- Collaborate with HSE, FOPS, HQ, C&P, finance, and logistics teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Act as the focal point for safety, technical, and operational matters for all subsea activities.
- Ensure valid Permit to Work (PTW) is compiled for each task and risks are captured.
- Contribute to the prevention of well control incidents and maintain awareness of statutory standards.
- Provide technical support to onshore subsea and completion service teams and contractors.
Requirements
- Technical Degree (B.Sc./HND) in Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in Subsea production systems, including QA/QC, fabrication, and testing.
- Experience with deepwater projects and contractor management.
- Operational experience in the subsea wells discipline (Drilling & Completions).
- Knowledge of managing contracts.
- IWCF certification.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications.
- Ability to coach others, adapt proactively, and work effectively in diverse teams.
