About the role
Ernst & Young (EY) is looking for a skilled professional to join their Indirect Tax Core team in Lagos. This full-time position focuses on delivering high-quality advisory and compliance services related to Value Added Tax (VAT) and Customs & Excise Duty. You will play a key part in guiding clients through complex tax matters while helping to develop the next generation of tax professionals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support teams in providing indirect tax compliance and advisory services.
- Apply Nigerian VAT Act and Customs & Excise duty regulations to resolve client challenges.
- Act as a liaison with clients and tax authorities to ensure timely filing of statutory returns.
- Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and global trends to keep clients informed.
- Manage client relationships and drive business development efforts.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members.
- Oversee engagement economics, including budgets, billing, and cash collection.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree (minimum second-class upper division or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Membership in ICAN, ACCA, or CITN is mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in indirect tax, preferably in a Big 4 or professional services firm.
- Strong understanding of local and international VAT regulations and Customs & Excise Duty laws.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
