About the role
Alaro City Development FZC is building an integrated, mixed-use city in the Lekki Free Zone. We are looking for a Sewage Treatment Plant Operator to help manage our critical infrastructure. This position is based in Lagos, with a preference for candidates willing to live and work in Epe.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain sewage treatment plant systems, including pumps, stabilization ponds, and lifting stations.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery, equipment, and pipeline systems.
- Handle new connections, re-connections, and minor extensions of sewerage systems.
- Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions, including welding, assembling, and lubricating moving parts.
- Measure and cut pipes for construction and maintenance projects.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records and provide timely reports on plant operations.
- Uphold good housekeeping practices within the treatment plant.
Requirements
- Higher National Diploma (HND), Technical College Degree, or undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Water), Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in industrial-scale sewage treatment.
- Hands-on experience in machinery operation and preventive maintenance of sewerage systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and design drawings.
- Strong knowledge of sewage treatment principles, wastewater disposal, and collection procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and good reporting skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, handle overtime, and work with dangerous chemicals safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a result-oriented work ethic.
