About the role
We are looking for a Senior SME Sales Officer to join our team in Abuja, Lagos, or Port Harcourt. This full-time role focuses on promoting business loan products to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). You will identify new prospects, build strong relationships with business owners, and guide them through the loan application process. The goal is to meet loan disbursement targets while maintaining high portfolio quality.
Responsibilities
- Acquire new clients and expand the existing client base.
- Prospect new clients and assist them with loan applications.
- Maintain and renew professional relationships with existing clients.
- Implement marketing strategies within the SME section.
- Conduct field visits to SME clients to assess their needs.
- Develop growth strategies and research viable business opportunities.
- Prepare loan proposals for credit approval.
- Monitor loan portfolios and report on successes and areas for improvement.
- Execute loan contracts and arrange for loan disbursement.
- Analyze financial statements to assess borrower repayment capacity.
- Conduct loan appraisals and collect detailed client information.
- Follow up on timely loan repayments.
Requirements
- 10 years of professional experience, preferably in SME loan transactions.
- Sound knowledge of SME loans, corporate loan financing, and bridge financing.
- Ability to analyze and interpret business financial statements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience managing a team of SME Financing Business Development Managers is an advantage.
- Background in MFBs, Commercial Banks, or Merchant Banks is preferred.
