About the role
Duplo is a Lagos-based fintech startup on a mission to transform B2B payments in Africa. We enable businesses to automate spend management, simplify cross-border payments, and control finances on a single platform. Backed by top investors including Y Combinator and Tribe Capital, we are building a product that aims to make business payments as simple as personal payment apps.
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Technology department in a hybrid role. You will play a key part in creating a paradigm-changing product that impacts millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Make well-reasoned decisions on architectural trade-offs, deployment strategies, and rollout safety.
- Design robust service boundaries and guide reliability standards across the engineering team.
- Lead technical design for high-complexity initiatives that improve backend availability and scalability.
- Mentor other engineers and raise operational standards.
- Define and track SLOs/SLIs to prioritize reliability work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including product, compliance, and finance operations.
- Build incident response processes and lead postmortems to prevent recurrence.
- Own observability end-to-end, including metrics, logging, and alerting.
- Drive capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost-efficiency across infrastructure.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years experience in SRE, DevOps, or backend infrastructure roles.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS in production environments.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and secrets management.
- Strong command of observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
- Strong scripting/programming ability in TypeScript or another language for automation.
- Practical expertise with Redis and PostgreSQL operations at scale.
- Demonstrated experience in fintech or high-stakes systems with compliance-sensitive infrastructure.
- Experience mentoring teams and raising operational standards.
