About the role
MTN Nigeria – MoMo Payment Service Bank is seeking a Senior Manager – Financial Controller to lead the financial control and reporting function. You will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial records while maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. This role supports sound business decision-making through effective internal controls and timely reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts to ensure financial information integrity.
- Drive balance sheet governance by reviewing reconciliations and improving financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal governance requirements.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to meet agreed timelines.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities and resolve findings promptly.
- Support the CFO in strengthening financial governance and liquidity oversight.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Financial Control team to foster a high-performance culture.
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA, ANAN, or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10-13 years’ experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Audit, or Corporate Finance.
- At least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, internal controls, and taxation.
- Experience in Fintech or Banking is preferred.
