About the role
Amadeus University, a private institution in Amizi, Abia State, is looking for a Senior Lecturer in Physiology. This position is within the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, part of the College of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership, conduct high-impact research, and contribute to the university’s mission of excellence in teaching and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Prepare lecture materials and lab manuals in line with NUC and MDCN standards. Teach Physiology courses for MBBS, BDS, and Allied Health Science students, including lectures, tutorials, and practicals.
- Assessment: Participate in OSPE, OSCE, and MBBS Professional Examinations. Set, mark, and submit assessment scores within approved timelines.
- Laboratory: Ensure safety, maintain equipment, and supervise practical classes while enforcing standard operating procedures.
- Research: Conduct research under senior faculty mentorship and aim for at least one peer-reviewed publication during the probationary period. Participate in departmental seminars and journal clubs.
- Administration: Attend meetings, contribute to accreditation activities, and serve as Course Adviser or Assistant Examination Officer when assigned.
- Professional Development: Adhere to academic ethics and MDCN codes. Register for a PhD programme within one year if not already holding one, and attend relevant workshops and conferences.
Requirements
- A mandatory Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in the relevant field from a recognised university.
- A minimum of six (6) years of post-qualification experience in university teaching and research.
- An adequate and verifiable record of scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Registration with the relevant professional association(s) in the discipline.
- Key competencies include undergraduate/postgraduate supervision, academic administration, curriculum development, and research publication.
