About the role

Propetrol Limited is a leading energy trading company with a growing international footprint across marine fuels, gas, and refined products. We are looking for a Senior Associate, Tax to support our tax compliance, planning, and advisory activities. This is a full-time position based in Lekki, Lagos.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tax computations, returns, and supporting schedules for review and timely filing.
  • Track statutory filing and payment deadlines, escalating potential compliance gaps.
  • Reconcile tax accounts with the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
  • Review transactions and documentation to ensure appropriate tax treatment.
  • Support tax planning and assess the tax implications of contracts, investments, and business transactions.
  • Research changes in tax legislation and prepare summaries of their business implications.
  • Support tax audits and investigations by preparing documentation and responding to queries.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external advisers as delegated by the Tax Lead.
  • Support cross-border tax reviews, transfer pricing documentation, and related compliance activities.
  • Maintain accurate tax records, audit trails, and evidence of filings and payments.
  • Work with Finance, Legal, Procurement, and operational teams to resolve tax matters.
  • Support improvements to tax processes and guide junior colleagues where required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional certification from ICAN, ACCA, or CITN is required.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in tax compliance, advisory, or corporate taxation.
  • Experience in energy, oil and gas, commodities trading, or a professional services firm is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian taxation and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of international taxation and transfer pricing is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
