About the role

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit dedicated to finding effective solutions to global poverty. We are hiring a Research Associate to join our Nigeria Country Office. In this role, you will lead data collection and management for research projects while working under the supervision of the Research Manager. You will oversee day-to-day research activities, from planning to implementation, and ensure that data quality meets high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Implement data quality checks, program survey instruments in SurveyCTO, manage project finances, and clean data on an ongoing basis.
  • Partner Engagement: Handle communications with Principal Investigators (PIs) and partners, keep the Research Manager informed of project developments, and participate in stakeholder meetings.
  • Technical Leadership: Support project and policy development, provide training and supervision to research staff, and ensure all team members follow necessary protocols.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Produce dissemination materials, assist with preliminary analysis, maintain accurate records, and prepare high-quality progress reports for PIs and funding agencies.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English.
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in economics research, impact evaluations, or international development.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, including managing field data collection.
  • Experience in randomized control trials and research project management in Nigeria.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Science, or a related field; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced competency in Stata and strong professional writing skills.
  • Strong client-facing and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel, with at least 50% of time spent in study sites during data collection periods.
