About the role
Jaza Energy is a solar energy start-up dedicated to powering Sub-Saharan Africa. We build solar-powered shops that charge batteries for customers to use in their homes. We are expanding rapidly in Nigeria and are hiring over 200 people in the next six months. As a Regional Service Engineer, you will manage a team of Field Service Engineers (FSEs) and oversee technical operations at the regional level. This role requires significant travel within Nigeria, particularly across the South-West states.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach FSEs on best practices through regular training and professional development.
- Collaborate with Jaza Stars, Regional Coordinators, and the Network Operations Centre to diagnose and resolve technical challenges.
- Oversee the setup of new hubs, ensuring seamless connectivity and conducting regular maintenance on energy systems.
- Collate monthly reports and share them with the management team.
- Prepare and share monthly performance review reports on power availability.
- Direct field service engineers in ensuring energy uptime, optimizing system performance, and troubleshooting issues.
- Report directly to the Technical Manager to ensure efficient coordination and adherence to technical protocols.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of technical/engineering leadership experience within the telecommunications/energy industry or related fields.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with HSE standards.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and reporting software, including the MS Office suite.
- Deep understanding of energy and solar systems, including solar installation, maintenance, and electrical design.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
