About the role
Amadeus University is a private institution in Amizi, Abia State, recently approved by the Federal Government and licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The university focuses on innovation, excellence, and high ethical standards in tertiary education.
The successful candidate will provide academic and intellectual leadership in Biochemistry. You will conduct high-impact research, supervise students, and contribute to the university’s mission of excellence in teaching and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Conduct lectures, tutorials, and practicals for MBBS, BDS, and Allied Health Science students. Prepare teaching materials in line with NUC and MDCN standards.
- Assessment: Participate in OSPE, OSCE, and professional examinations. Manage continuous assessment and final exam scoring within approved timelines.
- Laboratory: Enforce safety protocols, supervise practical classes, and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents.
- Research: Participate in departmental seminars and journal clubs. Aim for at least one peer-reviewed publication during the probationary period.
- Administration: Contribute to accreditation activities, serve as a Course Adviser or Assistant Examination Officer when assigned, and attend faculty meetings.
- Professional Development: Adhere to academic ethics and MDCN codes. Register for a PhD programme within one year of appointment if not already a holder.
Requirements
- A mandatory Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in the relevant field from a recognised university.
- A minimum of twelve (12) years of post-qualification experience in university teaching and research.
- An excellent and verifiable record of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and books.
- Demonstrated capacity for academic and institutional leadership.
- Registration with the relevant professional body or bodies in the discipline.
- Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students to completion is an advantage.
