About the role
Sun King (formerly Greenlight Planet) is a multinational business that designs, distributes, and finances solar-powered home energy products for underserved populations. We are looking for a PayG Phones TechOps Manager to take ownership of the technical operations for our PAYG Phones portfolio. This is an execution-focused role based in Lagos, where you will ensure that MDM platforms, payment-triggered controls, security settings, and partner integrations remain stable, compliant, and scalable across markets.
Responsibilities
- Act as the operational owner for all assisted PAYG Phones MDM environments, managing configuration, access governance, and business continuity.
- Administer device-control capabilities such as enrollment, lock/unlock triggers, SIM controls, and lost-phone blocking in line with approved policies.
- Run a structured incident management process for MDM, device-control, and integration failures, prioritizing by business severity and coordinating fixes with Engineering and vendors.
- Own the operational execution and reliability of online, offline, and USSD-based unlock flows, monitoring success rates and investigating failure patterns.
- Maintain strong control over MDM security updates, license lifecycle, and access rights, while owning risk dashboards and compliance checks.
- Serve as the primary technical operations counterpart to OEMs, MDM vendors, and integration providers, tracking performance against SLAs and escalating unresolved issues.
- Coordinate TechOps workstreams for phone projects, including migrations, security updates, and launch enablement, while balancing project delivery with day-to-day escalations.
- Own reporting requirements for device operations and incidents, developing operational dashboards to identify recurring failure patterns and process bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain SOPs, FAQs, and control frameworks, ensuring documentation is usable by frontline and country teams.
- Spend regular time in-country with agents and customers to observe MDM and unlock flows in the real world, converting field insights into concrete follow-ups.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Technology Operations, Product Operations, IT Operations, or Enterprise Mobility.
- 4+ years managing production technology platforms, including Incident, Problem, Release, and Change Management.
- 4+ years of people management and managing cross-functional technical teams.
- 4+ years of Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience (e.g., Samsung Knox, Android Enterprise, NuovoPay, Intune, Workspace ONE).
- Experience assisting multi-country or global operations.
- Strong experience in vendor management, including SLA governance and technical escalations.
- Hands-on knowledge of the Android ecosystem, APIs, SQL, system integrations, and data evaluation.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale technology rollouts and managing production environments.
