About the role
Ascentech Services Limited is seeking an experienced Operations Executive to manage freight forwarding operations in Lagos. You will coordinate import and export shipments across sea, air, and land routes. The role focuses on ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and strict compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate freight bookings, cargo movement, tracking, and final delivery.
- Prepare shipping documents and manage customs clearance processes.
- Liaise with shipping lines, airlines, customs agents, haulage providers, and clients.
- Obtain freight quotations, negotiate rates, and monitor shipment costs.
- Arrange cargo collection, transportation, warehousing, and delivery.
- Monitor shipment progress and resolve operational delays.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and prepare operational reports.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, port procedures, and safety requirements.
- Monitor and minimize demurrage and detention costs.
Requirements
- BSc or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related discipline.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics operations.
- Good knowledge of Nigerian customs procedures, shipping documentation, and port operations.
- Experience coordinating import and export shipments by sea, air, and land.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shipment tracking systems.
- Relevant professional certification in logistics or freight forwarding is an added advantage.
