About the role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a 500-bed specialty hospital providing comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE aims to deliver exceptional care across the African continent.

We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Radiographer to join our team in Abuja. This full-time, onsite position focuses primarily on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and PET/CT imaging, with additional duties in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). You will support diagnosis, disease staging, and treatment assessment while maintaining the highest standards of radiation safety and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PET and PET/CT examinations, including patient positioning, image acquisition, and reconstruction.
  • Conduct SPECT and conventional nuclear medicine studies such as bone, renal, and cardiac imaging.
  • Verify patient identity, clinical history, and tracer-specific preparation requirements.
  • Coordinate scan schedules with radiopharmacy and clinical teams to ensure timely tracer availability.
  • Handle radiopharmaceuticals safely, documenting activity, injection times, and batch details.
  • Adhere to radiation protection protocols and complete assigned quality-control checks for equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records in PACS and RIS systems and participate in clinical governance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography or a related field.
  • Valid registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) and a current practising licence.
  • Certification in PET/CT and SPECT imaging is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a radiographer in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrable recent hands-on experience with PET/CT, including patient preparation and image review.
  • Practical competence in SPECT and gamma camera imaging; SPECT/CT experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical principles, and radiation protection.
  • Current basic life support training and competence in venous access and patient monitoring.
