About the role
Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Hospital is a faith-based facility in Kubwa, Abuja, dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services. We are looking for a double-qualified Nephrology Nurse to join our team and support patients with kidney-related care.
Responsibilities
- Cannulate and manage arteriovenous (AV) fistulas, grafts, and central venous dialysis catheters using strict aseptic techniques.
- Deliver specialized medications, such as erythropoiesis-stimulating agents and electrolytes, and manage complications related to kidney failure.
- Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis procedures.
- Manage continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in critical care settings.
- Collaborate with renal physicians, dietitians, social workers, and transplant coordinators.
- Evaluate vital signs, fluid balance, weight, laboratory values, and physical symptoms before, during, and after treatments.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, incident reports, and adherence to hospital standard operating procedures (SOPs) and infection control rules.
- Counsel patients on renal diets, fluid restrictions, treatment options, transplantation, and long-term disease management.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of proven clinical experience in a dedicated renal or dialysis unit.
- Valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and operating hemodialysis equipment.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. / BNSC).
- Membership in the Nigeria Association of Nephrology Nurses (NANNO).
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife (RN/RM) qualification.
- High emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, crisis management under stress, and patience.
