About the role
KAAF Specialist Hospital is a healthcare provider focused on obstetric, gynaecological, and paediatric services. We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Staff Midwife to join our clinical team in Yaba, Lagos. This position involves delivering safe, high-quality care to mothers and newborns while maintaining strict nursing protocols.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered maternal and neonatal care in line with clinical standards.
- Prepare labor wards, delivery suites, and recovery areas for patient admission and discharge.
- Educate mothers on breastfeeding, neonatal care, and post-discharge recovery.
- Maintain accurate patient records using the Genesys electronic health record system.
- Assist in pre-operative and post-operative surgical management, including C-sections.
- Monitor labor progress, maternal vitals, and fetal well-being, escalating any abnormalities to the physician.
- Administer medications strictly following the Six Rights of Drug Administration.
Requirements
- Fully certified Registered Midwife (RM) with a current practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Dual RN/RM certification is an advantage.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on clinical experience in a busy hospital setting, with a focus on maternal and child health.
- Strong knowledge of emergency obstetric care, labor monitoring (partograph usage), and neonatal resuscitation.
- Excellent communication skills and a warm bedside manner.
- Proximity to Yaba/Akoka is preferred for easy commuting during shift coverage.
