About the role

Action Against Hunger is recruiting an MHPSS Quality and Capacity Building Manager based in Abuja (FCT). This full-time position reports to the Deputy Country Director Program / MHPSS Technical Advisor, with a proposed start date of October 2026. The role focuses on leading capacity-building initiatives for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), health, and nutrition staff, as well as community workers and volunteers. You will help integrate MHPSS principles into broader health and community-based interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver MHPSS training packages for staff, local partners, and community workers in line with international standards.
  • Develop capacity-building plans in collaboration with Health and Nutrition Heads of Department.
  • Provide continuous supervision, technical support, and on-the-job coaching to field teams.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify technical areas requiring training or support.
  • Make recommendations to enhance program quality and ensure activities are context-specific and respectful.
  • Monitor the implementation of MHPSS activities and the skills of field teams, with significant field presence expected.
  • Represent the MHPSS department in internal and external coordination meetings.
  • Build networks with other humanitarian actors in Abuja and facilitate referrals and external training opportunities.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation databases and document program learning, case studies, and success stories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Knowledge or experience in implementing MHPSS humanitarian programs.
  • Specific expertise in trauma-oriented clinical approaches and psychotherapies.
  • Previous experience in training and clinical supervision of psychologists, psychosocial workers, and volunteers.
  • Competent use of MS Office.
  • Good level of English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge or experience in Psychological First Aid (PFA); a PFA trainer certificate is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience in North East and North West Nigeria is an advantage.
