About the role
Cellulose Medical Diagnostics is a biosafety class I medical laboratory in Abuja (FCT) that delivers quality results in hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and histo/cyto-pathology. We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to supervise and manage all aspects of our laboratory service provision. This full-time position involves building and sustaining systems, processes, and protocols for managing different specimen types while providing leadership to the lab team.
Responsibilities
- Set up and strengthen the quality control and quality assurance programs in the lab.
- Handle, log, and process all laboratory specimens to ensure the shortest possible turnaround time.
- Verify and approve all outgoing results and ensure they are clearly stated in the reporting template.
- Manage the storage of processed specimens for future verification.
- Oversee monthly or periodic restocking of supplies and maintenance/recalibration of equipment.
- Maintain all laboratory logs and records, including issue, maintenance, and expiry logs.
- Conduct performance appraisals for staff under the laboratory services department.
- Provide leadership and ensure a healthy, safe, and professional environment in the lab.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- At least 2 to 5 years of post-NYSC experience.
- A valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council.
- Exceptional computer literacy.
- Strong soft skills, including leadership, teamwork, and the ability to work with little supervision.
- A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
